Braised Pork Belly With Sweet Sauce

Today, pork belly lovers will be happy to hear about a popular Chinese dish made with this type of meat. The braised pork belly is definitely something worth trying!

The dish has a perfectly balanced sweet and savory flavor, with the texture of soft pork that almost melts in your mouth.

For this recipe, you will need 1 pound of pork belly cubes and some prepped ginger, star anise, bay leaves, rock sugar, dried chili peppers, and seasoning sauce.

What is Braised Pork Belly?

Braised pork belly is a dish made from pork belly meat that has been boiled or steamed in water or milk, then usually braised in a sauce made from a combination of onions, carrots, and celery.

The key ingredients in most braised pork belly recipes are the pork belly itself, along with some combination of vegetables, herbs, and spices. The resulting dish is a moist, tender piece of meat with a rich and slightly sweet flavor.

One of the reasons braised pork belly is so popular is that it is relatively easy to prepare. All you need is a piece of pork belly, some vegetables, and a simple sauce. The result is a hearty and satisfying meal that can be enjoyed by anyone!

Step to Cook Braised Pork Belly

To pan-fry the pork belly, you will need a non-stick pan and no oil. The pork belly will release a lot of fat later when cooking, so this is necessary.

When the pork belly has browned, add sugar to the pan and wait until it melts before adding everything else for stir-frying. Afterward, move the dish into a clay pot and add water before braising for about an hour until the sauce thickens.

The final result is succulent and sweet pork belly that I top with sesame seeds before serving.
